Ride with Team Northeast Wisconsin in 2015!

When cycling and charity combine…magic happens. Join us for a fun-filled weekend that brings together riders from around the world to raise funds for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Whatever your skill level, the JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes is a great experience!

Sarah Meidl and her son Holden Meidl of Antigo rode with Team Northeast Wisconsin in the LaCrosse Ride to Cure Diabetes in 2014.

“Last January, when we registered for our first Ride to Cure, we didnā€™t even have road bikes. And the farthest distance Iā€™d ever ridden was 13 miles. I was terrified of the task that lay ahead of me. Not only did I have to fundraise like I never had in the past, I had to ride 100 miles on a bike I didnā€™t even own. The fundraising part seemed like it would be easier!

With the help of Pete Coons from Wheel & Sprocket, the JDRF Northeast Wisconsin Chapter ride coach, we found bikes and gear and met our new team. Over the summer, we did training rides on Sundays in Appleton with the team, and rode on our own at home during the week. By the time the LaCrosse ride came around, we had learned so much about cycling and had the support of a wonderful team. The century ride was so much fun! We had worked so hard all summer, that the century ride wasnā€™t that hard after all.

The JDRF ride to cure was an unforgettable experience. We are now hooked on cycling and are riding 2 rides this year!”
